Market Yourself as an Actor Be Interesting and Creative * Learn and try new exciting ways that actors are using to"stand out from the crowd" Know Your "Type" * Focus on your strengths, be aware of current trends, but don't try to be a "jack-of-all types" but the master of none. Some versatility is good - focused effort is best. Your Current Resume * Make sure resume is clean, looks professional and all information is up to date and relevant. Don't be afraid to make changes regularly. Your Web Site * An essential tool in your marketing arsenal. Your website allows managers, agents, casting directors and producers to instantly see several headshots, your updated bio and be able to view or download your demo reel. Choose one of the do-it-yourself website builders we suggest on the right -- easy to learn and use and easier to update when you need to. Be creative and have fun with it-- keep it simple yet effective. **Tip**--limit your site to 4-7 pages. Every actor should have a site, it's a fun and inexpensive way for the industry to get to know you. Imagine being able to add www.myactorswebsite.com and your e-mail metheactor@myactorswebsite.com on all your marketing materials!!! Not sure you can do your own site? Google search " actors web designers" in the search box above and you will find dozens to choose from, either way get started now!! Post Cards * The old tried and true way for getting the industry to know you. Vista Print is a great inexpensive way to get postcards (and business cards) fast. Do-it-yourself and save money or have them help you design the best look for you. Promote yourself to agents, casting and everyone in the industry. Make sure you have your web address on all your marketing materials! Headshots * Find a photographer who is a good fit for you, ask around, get recommendations and ask to see their work. Be sure it fits your "type". Demo Reels * Fantastic way for everyone to see your body of work in film. Highlight your strengths and knock 'em dead scenes. Plenty of demo reel companies to choose from. Do your homework and find the one that best fits your needs and budget. Better yet, know a film editor who would do your reel? If it's someone you know who's good, knows you personally and can do a great reel for a friend it might give your reel a different look than the me-to "factory" versions. Business Cards * Always have a business card ready for anyone you meet. That "chance" meeting with an industry professional or connection will go much better when you hand them your card with all your contact information (and your professional website address) or even one with a headshot. Make sure you give them out to all interested people, you never know when opportunity will knock, and you want the industry to know you are home. Of course Vista Print is our favorite and there are many printers to choose from--just make sure you have your card ready now.....

ACTORS MARKETING/ADVERTISING LESSON 101-- A.I.D.A
The Building Blocks to All Marketing and Advertising Materials ATTENTION You must get your "audience's" Attention. Be creative, try to tastefully stand out from the rest of the group. This is true from the simplest of business cards, to your demo reel or your website...Always use your best attention grabbing headshot, headlines, layout style, etc., that will give your audience a reason to keep watching and reading. INTEREST You now have their attention, you then must create an interest in what you have to offer. Feature your styles, some of your interesting "experiences", remember to play to your audience, what might interest an agent may not be of interest to a casting director or producer. Be flexible and ask yourself "would my audience be interested enough in what I am saying or showing to keep watching and reading"? DESIRE You have their attention and have them interested. Now you have to create a desire or "want" for what you are offering. More interesting headshots, great bio information. Creative ways you can show the audience the benefits of giving you that audition, a place in their agency or why you are the one they "have to have" ACTION You've done all the hard work and planning, now it is time "to ask for the order". Make sure you add the call me at, e-mail at, click here now, I can be reached at, type information on any marketing piece you have. If your audience is not asked or told to call or buy what your selling they just might not. Keep your contact info updated and fresh. Now get started and Good Luck!!
